Wide Sargasso Sea - Jean Rhys

The 'writing-back' of a classic becomes a classic ! Whaoh ! Wide Sargasso Sea is the life story of the most marginalized character - Bertha Mason aka Antoinette Cosway- of Charlotte Bronte's classic Jane Eyre. In her attempt to  portray the childhood , unhappy marriage and the inevitable madness of Antoinette  the first Mrs.Rochester , Jean Rhys has actually composed a touching and chilling psychological drama. Cool.

No , I haven't read Jane Eyre. But this novel can be read and enjoyed independently. By the way , what's that bunch of bananas doing there on the carpet? The novel is full of beautiful Caribbean sceneries and the publishers have come up with a bunch of bananas? Nonsense. Cover design matters too , right?
